 At Searchlight Electric, we are deeply committed to environmental preservation and sustainability, integrating these principles into all aspects of our operations. We recognise our responsibility to minimise our environmental impact and continually improve our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. Our operations have an effect on the local, regional, and global environment, and we are dedicated to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainability throughout all our activities. Our commitment to the environment can be seen throughout our Environmental Policy. It covers all branded items supplied by Searchlight Electric Ltd regardless of the Brand: Searchlight, Project Collection or Lux & Belle.

Environmental Compliance
Our commitment to the environment includes regularly reviewing our environmental compliance status and updating our processes to ensure ongoing adherence. We strictly adhere to all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and other requirements. We will only purchase FSC products from FSC Certified suppliers (FSC certificate holders/FSC promotional licence holders). When claiming FSC, all products such as timber and wood and packaging supplied to SEL are required to be labelled in accordance with the trademark guidelines, provided by the Forest Stewardship Council.

Resource Efficiency
We prioritise resource efficiency by implementing efficient processes and technologies to minimise resource consumption and waste generation. This includes reducing energy and water usage, optimising material consumption, and maximising recycling and reuse. We adopt renewable energy technologies such as our rooftop solar panels and by switching the primary lighting in our building to energy-efficient LED lights.

Pollution Prevention
We are committed to preventing pollution by controlling and minimising emissions to air, water, and land. We employ best practices to mitigate any adverse environmental impacts associated with our operations.

Product Responsibility
We design, manufacture, and distribute products with a focus on environmental sustainability. Our aim is to minimise the environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle, from design and production to use and disposal.

Sustainable Supply Chain
We collaborate closely with our suppliers to promote environmental responsibility throughout our supply chain. We prioritise suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. We ask that all suppliers act accordingly. Some of our requested directives are listed below (non – exhaustive)

• Reduce the use of plastics to an absolute minimum and use only plastics that contain a minimum of 30% recycled material.
• Do not use PVC or EPS Polystyrene (Polyfoam) packaging unless expressly approved with our QA Dept on a line-by-line basis. We recommend the use of EPE Expanded Polyethylene or corrugated fittings.
  
• Provide small parts and fixing kits that should be packed in paper bags rather than plastic bags.
• Reusing packaging and other materials
• Plastic bags should be made from Polyethylene (PE) material and must contain a minimum of 30% recycled material.
• All items supplied with a plug must have plug protectors fitted and they must be a minimum of 30% recycled material.
• Outer (shipping) cartons must be made from a minimum of 30% recycled material. Plastic strapping must not be used.

Continuous Improvement
We regularly assess our performance as part of our commitment to the environment and set targets for improvement. Through ongoing monitoring, measurement, and evaluation, we strive to identify opportunities for further environmental enhancement. We prioritise incorporating a minimum of 30% recycled material in all packaging, subject to our QA department’s assurance approval, as part of our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.

Energy Efficiency
We invest in energy-efficient technologies and practices to reduce our carbon footprint and lower energy costs. This includes embracing renewable energy technologies through the usage of our rooftop solar panels and transitioning our lighting within our building to energy-saving LED. Additionally, we provide electric vehicle (EV) car charging points to encourage the adoption of sustainable transportation options among our employees and visitors.

Waste Reduction
We implement waste reduction initiatives such as recycling programs and waste minimisation strategies to decrease landfill waste. Our commitment extends to using recyclable brown packaging for all new products. The packaging used inside unit boxes should be kept to an absolute minimum to avoid waste.

Water Conservation
We implement water-saving measures to reduce water consumption in our operations. This includes (amongst other initiatives) monitoring and managing water consumption effectively every month through the installation of water meters.

Carbon Neutrality
We are working towards achieving carbon neutrality by reducing our emissions and offsetting some emissions through verified carbon offset projects.

Environmental Awareness
We educate and empower our employees about environmental issues and the environmental effects of their activities. We encourage responsible decision-making and compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards to ensure full compliance with legal requirements.

Communication and Engagement
We are committed to communicating our environmental efforts and progress to our stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the wider community. We advocate for recycling and responsible disposal practices to manage unavoidable waste effectively. We welcome feedback and input from all stakeholders to help us improve our environmental performance and achieve our sustainability goals.
